Irrigation Canal Radar Flow Meter

Confident Water Allocation Across Every Canal Reach Irrigation Canal Radar Flow Meter is designed for continuous discharge monitoring in irrigation canals, distribution laterals and water-allocation networks. Canal levels and velocities change with gate positions, crop demand, sediment and seasonal maintenance, while submerged sensors are exposed to fouling and physical damage. Reliable discharge records help districts verify deliveries, identify conveyance losses and schedule water more fairly without sending crews to read every site. Non-Contact Radar for Sediment and Debris The non-contact radar system measures surface velocity and water level, then combines those readings with the configured channel geometry to calculate instantaneous discharge and totalized flow. Keeping the sensor above the water avoids direct exposure to silt, debris, corrosive wastewater and fast-moving flow. This approach is well suited to locations where submerged sensors would foul, drift or become difficult to reach. Continuous level and velocity data also gives operators a clearer picture than a single level reading when flow conditions change quickly. The solution supports regular or surveyed channel sections and can be positioned above the water from a bridge, beam or bank-side structure. This page can naturally support buyer terms such as non-contact flow measurement, surface velocity sensor, water level monitoring, open channel discharge and remote flow telemetry. Designed for Telemetry and Field Commissioning Choose a straight, representative reach away from gates, drops, hydraulic jumps and eddies, and document the cross-section before setting the velocity coefficient. For remote districts, request a low-power package, data logging and the communications interface needed for solar, RTU or SCADA operation. A representative, hydraulically stable measurement section and a verified velocity coefficient are essential; irregular sections, backwater, turbulence and changing sediment profiles must be considered during commissioning. Gallop has focused on flow and level instrumentation since 2005 and presents in-house R&D, ISO 9001:2015 and CE evidence.
